PRESS RELEASES
Presence of the Special Secretary for Alternative Dispute Resolution at the OPEMED Partners’ Assembly – 10 Years of Institutional Contribution to Mediation.

On Thursday, February 19, 2026, the Special Secretary for Alternative Dispute Resolution of the Ministry of Justice, Ms. Olympia Anastasopoulou, attended the OPEMED (Organization for the Promotion of Alternative Dispute Resolution Methods) Partners’ Assembly and the cutting of the organization's New Year's cake, representing the Minister of Justice, Mr. Georgios Floridis. The event took place at the offices of SEV (Hellenic Federation of Enterprises).

This year’s event held special significance, as it marked the completion of ten years since the establishment and operation of OPEMED, an organization that has played a crucial role in the dissemination and consolidation of mediation and other Alternative Dispute Resolution methods in Greece.

As part of the event, the collective work titled “Mediation in Greece: An Alternative Dispute Resolution Method was presented”. This is a thorough study that reflects the progress of the institution to date, analyzes its position within the justice system, and outlines proposals for its further strengthening.

Ιt is noteworthy that the key objectives highlighted in this work have already been achieved or are in the process of being implemented by the Special Secretariat for Alternative Dispute Resolution (S.S.A.D.R.), as part of its systematic efforts to upgrade and deepen the institution. Through cohesive initiatives and institutional interventions, the Special Secretariat for A.D.R. is constantly working to ensure the quality, reliability, and operational effectiveness of mediation, strengthening its position as a stable pillar of the justice system.

In this broader context, the completion of ten years of operation of OPEMED confirms that mediation has now become an integral part of the modern rule of law. The contribution of the organization, combined with the institutional work of the Special Secretariat for Alternative Dispute Resolution (S.S.A.D.R.), has created a stable and reliable framework for further strengthening the institution. This strengthening is primarily linked to the cultivation of a modern culture of dialogue, understanding, and consensual dispute resolution. This is a development that enhances trust in institutions and significantly contributes to the quality of democracy.
